How did I decide to study Social Work?

 

Hi everyone!

This time I will talk about the career I study. When I was little, I wanted to study when I grew up careers that would help society, and I was determined to study law. Later, when I studied at high school, I began to doubt, so I had as options in addition to law, studying history, sociology, psychology, among other careers. For the same reason, I preferred not to go to university right away to decide well what career to study, so last year I decided to join territorial organizations in my neighborhood, and in the activities we did I discovered that my vocation had to do with action direct in society, so after doing the PSU I finally decided and applied to Social Work. My experience at university so far has been relatively good, since although it has been online, which is very boring, I have gotten used to the system and have had good grades. When I graduate, I would like to work in the territories, with the people, with the childhoods, and feel that I can contribute with my knowledge and my vocation to help a little to change society.

    Good work. Childhood is infacia en español, you should use children, the plural of child. You don't write with childhood.

Mary Richmond Mary Richmond was a noted social worker, born in 1861 in the United States. She was raised by her grandmother, a feminist activist, which guided her to form a critical and thinking attitude about the demands in front of the world. She is considered as the woman who established Social Work as a profession, since she implemented theories, techniques, etc. that turned the notion of Social Work as solely charitable work, through, for example, home visits and philanthropy, into a profession that seeks the emancipation of people.
